Mae Fah Luang University , an autonomous public university, was established on the 25 th of September 1998 according to the 1998 Royal Charter of Mae Fah Luang University, and was granted royal permission to be named after the title by which the local people respectfully addressed and referred to Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother. This appellation of auspicious meaning signifies the objectives of this university as a memorial of Thai people’s loyalty to Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother for Her boundless benevolence to people throughout the Kingdom.

After its establishment on the 25 th September 1998 , the University accepted the first cohort of sixty students into two programmes and simultaneously started building the main campus in the proximity of Doi Ngaem, Muang District, Chiang Rai Province . The construction, which started on the 22 nd of July 1999 , was completed on the 6 th of May 2004 , at a total cost of 2,325 million Baht.

The University’s entire campus area at Doi Ngaem amounts to 4,997 rais, consisting mainly of hills, with a small amount of plain, and by consent of the Cabinet, the University was given another 2,556 rais of land in Jom Mok Kaew Subdistrict, Mae Lao District, Chiang Rai Province, to accommodate its future expansion. In addition, His Majesty the King also kindly granted the University about 700 rais of land in Mae Suay District, Chiang Rai Province . The University has been developing its curricula and instruction to meet international standards, adopting English as the primary medium of instruction, with regularly arranged activities to promote self-studying. Since its establishment almost seven years ago, Mae Fah Luang University in its continuing academic development has offered study programmes that meet both the domestic demand and that of Greater Mekhong Subregion countries. Currently, Mae Fah Luang University offers twenty six Bachelor’s Degree programmes, seventeen Master’s Degree programmes and seven docorate programmes through nine Schools, namely, School of Liberal Arts, School of Science, School of Management, School of Information Technology, School of Agro-Industry, School of Cosmetic Science, School of Nursing, School of Health Science and School of Law, with the entire population of 7,111 students, 257 teachers and 498 operating staff.

Strongly determined to fulfil Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother’s ‘Afforestation and Human-Resources Development’ intention, Mae Fah Luang University is resolute in its attempts to preserve and restore the environment as well as to improve people’s quality of life through quality education whereby sustainable livelihood can be attained.

Regarding Sirindhorn Chinese Language and Culture Center, it can be said that the idea of establishing a centre for Chinese language and culture in Thailand had been constantly considered but had not been materialized until March 1999, when the issue of Chinese-language teaching and establishing a centre for Chinese language and culture in Thailand was discussed by the People’s Republic of China’s Minister of Education and Thailand’s Minister of University Affairs. In early August 2000, as a result of the discussion, the government of the People’s Republic of China consented to the establishment of a Chinese language and culture centre at Mae Fah Luang University . The People’s Republic of China intended the Chinese language and culture centre to be part of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother’s 100 th birthday anniversary, to symbolize the ongoing friendship and goodwill cherished by the two countries and to operate as a centre for Chinese language and culture studies to serve Thailand and Greater Mekhong Subregion countries.

The foundation-stone laying ceremony for this Chinese centre was presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn on Saturday the 9 th of December 2000 . Construction commenced on Saturday the 29 th of December 2001 and reached its completion in early August 2002, followed by the conferment of this Chinese language and culture centre upon Mae Fah Luang University by the government of the People’s Republic of China on Tuesday the 20 th August 2002 . Subsequently, Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn granted Mae Fah Luang University royal permission to christen this centre ‘Sirindhorn Chinese Language and Culture Center ’, a name of propitious meaning esteemed by Mae Fah Luang University and people countrywide.

The government of the People’s Republic of China assumed a lead role in the design and construction of the centre, which were entrusted to Chinese architects and engineers. Principal construction materials of authentic Chinese design were also shipped in from China . The Chinese language and culture centre, which boasts a utility area of about 1,100 square metres and an interior pond decorated in Se Zhou style, was completed at an approximate cost of 60 million Baht.

Mae Fah Luang University is a higher-education institution striving for high quality at international standards. It excels in various academic areas, creating qualified graduates and human resources for the country and the region. It is also a source of research with the capability of applying that knowledge to benefit the society and industrial/business sectors through cooperation with related agencies. At the same time, the university retains its national identity through education and development of the national arts and culture.

Sirindhorn Chinese Language and Culture Center commenced its teaching mission in close collaboration with the government of the People’s Republic of China . Instructors and teaching aids of various types were sent to Mae Fah Luang University to initiate Chinese-language courses for interested people and training courses for Chinese-language teachers from all parts of the country. With those language and training courses being eminently successful, Sirindhorn Chinese Language and Culture Center shall concentrate principally on developing Chinese-language teachers and designing Chinese-language training programmes, in addition to maintaining good understanding between the citizens of the two countries. In due course, Sirindhorn Chinese Language and Culture Center shall extend its teaching mission to serve countries in the Greater Mekhong Subregion.

He governments of the People’s Republic of China and of Thailand both foresee Sirindhorn Chinese Language and Culture Center as an institution to develop the teaching and learning of Chinese language and culture, with an active role in strengthening understanding and lasting friendship between the two countries.

September 11th, 1968
The Chiang Rai provincial administration proposed an establishment of a vocational school of teacher education in certificate level to the director-general of the teacher education department at an area by the Nong Bua Reservoir in Ban Du sub-district

June 30th, 1972
The director-general of the teacher education department, Saroj Buasri, reported to the mayor of Chiang Rai that the department had approved such proposal, which then remained in pending approval for the budget of the following fiscal year in 1973.

September 29th, 1973
The Chiang Rai Teacher College was set up in accordance to the cabinet’s approval Mr Bandit Wongkaew from Maha Sarakam Teacher College was appointed the first director to the college. The first batch of enrolled students included 1,500 teachers in Chiang Rai and from nearby provinces for the summer session.

March 2nd, 1977
The issuance of a royal decree conferred that the Chiang Rai Teacher College should be upgraded to become an academic and research institute providing programs in Bachelor’s degree. The first rector was Mr Wichien Manasavate.

In 1985
The Ministry of Education announced that there must be a new structure for the college to be in line with the teacher college bill issued in 1975.
The new structure included the additional amendments from 1984 as follows.

Later on, the Council of teacher education members issued a mandate in 1985 that required teacher colleges to consolidate and be properly clustered. To follow such mandate, Chiang Rai Teacher College was then clustered into the Lanna Co-college group holding also Teacher colleges in Chiang Mai, Lampang, and Uttaradit.

February 14th, 1992
His Majesty the King bestowed a new official name to Chiang Rai Teacher College as the Rajabhat Institute of Chiang Rai to enhance the diversity of graduates. The Institute belongs to the Office of Rajabhat Institute Council, which is positioned under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and was appointed as a juristic person with hierarchy equivalent to any departments in the Ministry of Education effective January 25th, 1995 onwards. The Royal command read that the associate professor Suthep Phongsriwat, was appointed the first rector of the Rajabhat Institute of Chiang Rai effective on June 9th, 1995.

Chiang Mai University was founded in January 1964, in a Royal Charter granted by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. CMU, or Mor Chor as it is known locally, was the first institute of higher education in the north, and the first provincial university in Thailand.

Our Development
Since our opening in 1964, with the three founding Faculties of Science, Social Sciences, and Humanities, we have continued to augment our structure and organization in terms of premises, the range of disciplines offered, and student enrollment. Today, CMU has seventeen Faculties with 107 individual departments, and a Graduate School. We currently offer a total of 253 programs: 3 Certificate Programs, 87 undergraduate programs and 163 postgraduate and graduate diploma programs, to more than twenty-five thousand students. In addition, two international Bachelors program and 18 international Masters and Doctoral programs, taught in English language, are presently being offered to international students by Social Sciences, Health Sciences, and Science and Technology faculties.

Our Campuses
We have three campuses, which together cover about 3,490 acres of land. The main University campus, Suan Sak campus, lies about 5 kilometres west of the city center. Set against the backdrop of Doi Suthep mountain, the campus occupies a 725-acre site, bounded on three sides by busy shopping streets and on the fourth by Chiang Mai Zoo. Here you will find the University’s administrative centre, the Science, Engineering, Humanities, and Social Sciences faculties, the Graduate School, all of the Campus Resource Facilities and Services and our major sports facilities. An attractive feature of this campus is the Ang Kaew Reservoir. Constructed to supply water for the University, it also provides an idyllic recreational area for both campus residents and the local community.

In the 1960s, this area was still ancient forest so, with conservation in mind, the University buildings were constructed between the trees, with the result that the campus is now a tranquil, verdant environment, resplendent with mature trees and lush vegetation. There are probably as many trees on the campus as there are students.

Still within the main campus, but a little closer to the city, the Health Sciences complex, the Suan Dok campus, occupies a 110-acre site. Here you will find the Faculties of Medicine, Associated Medical Sciences, Nursing, Dentistry and Pharmacy, and Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital, known locally as Suan Dok, the largest teaching hospital in Northern Thailand.

About 5 km south of the main campus, the 864-acre Mae Hea campus is home to the Faculties of Veterinary Medicine and Agro-Industry.

The University’s latest acquisition is the Lamphun Sri Bua Baan campus. Located about 55 kilometres south of Chiang Mai, on a 1,890-acre site close to the Lamphun industrial centre, the campus is currently under development. When complete, it will provide additional training and research facilities for the Faculties of Nursing, Architecture, Engineering, Humanities, Social Sciences, Agro-Industries, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Science, and the Graduate School.

Maejo University

Maejo University

Founded in June 7, 1934, Maejo University is considered as the oldest agricultural institution in the country. It was first established as the Northern Agricultural Teachers Training School under the Ministry of Education and was later transferred under the Ministry of Agriculture to become the Kasetsart Preparatory School. After a year, it was officially installed as Maejo Agricultural School to serve as a research station of Kasetsart University (KU), a state university in Bangkok. It began to accept M.6 (Grade 12) students who, upon finishing at Maejo, were automatically admitted to KU for a 4-year degree program.

In 1956, Maejo was renamed Chiang Mai College of Agriculture, making it the first certificate-granting agricultural college under the Ministry of Education. Its graduates became secondary school teachers in agriculture.

In 1975, Maejo was royally confirmed as one of the state universities under the Ministry of University Affairs and was called the Institute of Agricultural Technology. With this status, it began to accept students from vocational schools to register into its 2-year programs (associate degrees) and, students from the secondary schools to its 4-year degree programs. This move was aimed to give

all vocational school graduates greater opportunity to attain higher education in agriculture. It is for this reason that February the 19th is celebrated as Maejo's Foundation Day.

In 1980, the institute’s name was modified into Maejo Institute of Agricultural Technology upon the request of its alumni. However, due to its rapid development, it was elevated into a full university status, both in title and in essence on November 12, 1996. It was given the name Maejo University which was immediately approved by the national parliament.

Under the Ministry of Education, Maejo University is a degree-granting institute that attempts to educate students in practical agriculture, aiming to prepare them for agricultural pursuits. MJU strives to nurture and develop its graduates to become technically competent besides being culturally and scholarly matured thereby, able to contribute to the future of the country.

At present, Maejo University belongs to the Commission on Higher Education of the Ministry of Education.

University Support Unit

Central Library Services

Officially established in 1975 as a small section of the Division of Educational Services, the main library is presently called the Central Library Services under the Office of the President. Open to all students and non-academic staff members of the university, the library contains more than 86,000 volumes of books and 892 periodicals (2003). Services consist of loaning library materials, book reservations, computerized bibliographical databases and CD-ROMs, current awareness services, distribution of library information journals, inter-library book loans, information and inquiry services, etc. The building contains study booths for more personal and private use. Requested extension of open hours is usually provided to cater particularly to week-end students and to accommodate increased number of library users during pre-exam periods.

International Education and Training Center

This center was recently established in order to respond to the internationalization policy of MJU. Serving as venue to many international training programs, conferences and meetings, the IETC complex houses a main hall for conference gathering, a cafeteria and a hotel-like accommodation. The conference area has a main hall, several small to medium-sized meeting rooms, internet room, and other audio-visual rooms. The cafeteria caters to the specific needs of stay-in participants while the accommodation has single rooms, double rooms and suites. Each room is air-conditioned and has a cable TV, telephone and shower. For convenience of the occupants, there is a 24-hour reception counter. The Center has hosted the 4th EARTH Seminar, SEARCA-AHEAD Training, the yearly Agricultural Resources Management Training for Asian participants, etc.

Information Technology Center

In order to satisfy the growing awareness towards computerized learning, this center was created under the 7th National Socio-Economic Development Plan (1992-1996). Managed by the Planning Division (Office of the President), the Center mainly provides computer services to its staff and students through training, extension and research. Based in the newly-constructed IT building, the center has recently acquired modern equipment and facilities to become a fully-functional unit. MJU believes that this new Center could meet the ever-growing demands of its community and enable its members to develop themselves in their teaching, learning and research activities, especially through internet, campus networking, tele-conferencing, etc.
Ornamental Plant and Orchid CenterEstablished under the Office of the President, this center is responsible for the conduct of research and extension activities to both MJU staff and the general public mainly through training programs on ornamental plants and orchids. The main research is geared towards orchid breeding and multiplication.

Language Center

This project was established to cater to the needs of the students and staff to develop their language proficiency mainly to supplement their scholarly pursuits. The center provides intensive training in English, Chinese, Japanese and even Thai, for interested students and staff who have the desire to continue their studies or travel abroad. The center hopes to cooperate with various foreign language centers and international academic institutions for the fulfillment of its objectives. Presently, its teaching staff consists of several foreign nationals from USA, Philippines, China, Japan, Australia, etc.

Institute of Business Incubator (MJUBI)

Established as a new autonomous structure within Maejo University, MJUBI was approved by the Commission on Higher Education of the Ministry of Education on January 14, 2005 together with all other 25 similar structures in various universities in the country. Its supervision and financial support is derived from the University Business Incubator Coordination Office (UBICO). At present, MJUBI implements various activities such as incubating (seed and start-up) including an incubatee office, education training and development, consulting, provide services, research, local and domestic connections, international networking, UBI shop, UBI savings bank, TLO, etc.

Energy Research Center

This center was recently created in response to the critical economic situation caused by problem in energy resources. Its main purpose of existence is to provide academic services on energy aspects to the community and other organizations. Its vision is to produce researches, transfer technology and develop innovations on energy at the highest efficiency level. Their main activity for the community is to conduct training on agricultural energy technology and on energy management and conservation.

Biotechnology Center and the Institute of Product Quality and Standardization

The Biotechnology Center was established to provide academic services in the form of training programs on knowledge about agriculture and food, laboratory testing of food and product samples, analytic tools/equipment services and use of greenhouse for staff and students of MJU and from other institutions. The Center also seeks to cooperate with agencies and organizations at the national and international levels. The Center has an adjoining state-of-the-art greenhouse that was built using Dutch and Singaporean technologies. At present, the Center is officially called the “HRH Crown Princess Sirindhorn Biotechnology Center”.The Center also contains the Institute of Product Quality and Standardization which is implemented in cooperation with the Institute of Food (Ministry of Industry) and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). The Institute aims to develop the food and agricultural products industry in response to food safety policy and in promotion of Thailand as “Kitchen of the World”.

Payap University

Payap University

Payap University has a long and rich history beginning in 1888 with the founding of the Thailand Theological Seminary. That seminary has now been integrated in Payap University as the McGilvary Faculty of Theology, one of eleven academic divisions comprising the university. Initially, seminary students were accepted after completing elementary school. High school graduation gradually became the pre-requisite for a seven-year bachelor of divinity (BD) course that was formally initiated in l960. The second predecessor of Payap University was the McCormick Hospital School of Nursing, established in l923. After first accepting students with minimal educational qualifications, in l961 the School of Nursing made high school graduation a pre-requisite for entrance. Degrees awarded by these institutions, however, were not recognized as college degrees by the Royal Thai Government.

The Royal Proclamation of the Private Colleges Act of l969 made private higher education a legal reality in Thailand. The Thailand Theological Seminary and the McCormick Hospital School of Nursing initiated discussions to set up a private college. Together with representatives of the Church of Christ in Thailand, the American Presbyterian Mission, and the Disciples Division of Overseas Ministries, they formulated articles of incorporation which were submitted to the Royal Thai Government. Payap College received accreditation on 21 March l974, and became the first private college in Thailand outside of greater Bangkok. The first class of 204 students was accepted in l974 and 154 students were graduated at the end of the l977-78 academic year. Since that time twenty-five more classes have completed their course of studies; there are approximately 23,000 alumni of the university.

In its early years, Payap College operated in borrowed facilities. Originally there were two campuses, one adjacent to McCormick Hospital and the other five miles distant, a four-acre site on the west side of Chiang Mai, on which stood three residential buildings. Although initial plans called for the development of these two campus sites, it soon became evident that expansion of the four-acre western site near Chiang Mai University was impractical; skyrocketing real estate costs precluded additional land acquisition at that site. The eastern campus, opposite McCormick Hospital, strained to accommodate adequate facilities for both student and graduate nurses of the hospital and the students of the Thailand Theological Seminary. Although additional buildings on this 16-acre site would have been possible, facilities for the anticipated student body of several thousand students could not have been accommodated. The Board of Directors, therefore, voted early in l974 to proceed with acquisition of land in a more favorable location, two miles to the east of the McCormick campus (now called the Khao Nawarat campus). About l20 acres of low-lying land were then acquired; this site now comprises the Mae Khao campus, which serves as the main university campus. Subsequent land acquisitions have increased the size of this campus to approximately 275 acres.

In l975, Payap engaged Metropolitan Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd., of Bangkok, a leading architectural and engineering firm, to prepare a ten-year master plan for campus development. The implementation of this plan began with the dedication of the first five buildings on the Mae Khao campus in 1982. Since then, 16 major buildings have been constructed at the Mae Khao campus. Payap also continues to offer classes on the Khao Nawarat site where the faculties of theology and nursing, the music department, the Christian Communications Institute, and the university archives are located.

Payap's achievements were recognized by the Royal Thai Government in 1984 when it became the first fully accredited private university in Thailand. Since then the university has continued to progress, expanding facilities to accommodate the steady growth in the student body, investing in the continuing education and training of the faculty through university support of graduate education in the US and in other countries, and adding a wide range of international programs to attract students from across Southeast Asia and from other areas of the world.

Payap University, established in 1974, is a private institution founded by the Church of Christ in Thailand. Payap is a founding member of the Association of Private Higher Education Institutions in Thailand, and an active member of the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia, as well as the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning.

Payap's two libraries house over 140,000 volumes, and 2,100 audiovisual forms, and subscribe to 600 periodicals and journals. Computerized library services include the card catalog and internet and database searching. Payap is also home to the University Archives, the only fully operational private archives in Southeast Asia, and second only to the National Archives in Bangkok. It has one of the world's largest collections on Northern Thailand and adjacent areas and is a depository of the Church of Christ in Thailand (CCT).

Naresuan University

The Community: Phitsanulok
Encompassing an area of 10,815 square kilometres, the Proserous province of Phitsanulok is divided into nine districts. The province is approximately 490 kilometers north of Bangkok and it serves as a trading and transportation link between the northern and the central regions of Thailand.

The former name "Song Kwae" was changed to Phitsanulok during the fifteenth century by King Boromatrilokanart and the city was the residence of Crown Princes during the Ayutthaya period (1350-1767). Phitsanulok was the birthplace of King Naresuan the Great (reign: 1590 - 1605), and his brother Prince Ekathosarot. The province was a major centre of recruitment when Ayuthaya waged war with Burma, and was the capital of Thailand for 25 years during the 1448-1488 reign of the Ayuthaya, King Boromtrailokanat.

The University
Before becoming the university it is today, Naresuan University journeyed through several stages of struggle and growth. Initially, it was an offshoot of the then College of Education, under the Ministry of Education. As part of the Department of Teacher Education's policy to expand degree programs in teacher education upcountry, the Department of Teacher Education, the Council of the College of Education, on January 18, 196A, resolved to establish a campus of the College of Education in Phitsanulok. On January 25,1967, the Ministry of Education, by the authority vested in the College of Education Act B.E. 2497 (1954), issues an executive order to establish the College of Education, Phitsanulok – the fourth campus after Prasarnmitr, Pathumwan, and Bangsaen campuses, respectively.

In 1974, the College of Education, Phitsanulok, was granted university status under the name Srinakharinwirot University, Phitsanulok. This campus remained part of Srinakharinwirot University for 16 years until in 1990, when it became Naresuan University.

Naresuan University (NU), located in Phitsanulok, Thailand, was named after King Naresuan the Great. Formerly a campus of Srinakharinwirot University, NU was established as a public university in 1990. Naresuan University is a governmental institution developed from the Phitsanulok campus of Srinakarinwirot University on the 29 July, 1990. The auspicious occasion represented the 400th anniversary of the ascending to the throne of King Naresuan the Great. Serving as a foundation of higher education in nine provinces of the lower northern region, along with Phayao Province, Naresuan University has long been recognized for its innovative academic excellence and outstanding achievement in both research and professional services.

The University has its IT campus network at Chiang Mai, Kamphang Phet, Nakhon Sawan, Phetchaboon, Phayao, Phrae, Sukhothai, Tak, and Uttradit.

Naresuan University is a comprehensive university offering more than 58 undergraduate and 55 graduate programs in the fields of Agricultura Sciencel, Natural Resources, Environmental Science; Allied Health Science; Architecture; Dentistry; Education; Engineering; Humanities, Social Sciences; Medicine; Nursing; Pharmaceutical Sciences, Law, Medical Sciences and Science. To achieve the university mission, which is to distribute opportunity for higher education to students in the lower northern region of Thailand, 70 % of undergraduate students in the University academic programs are grade 12 students from 9 Provinces of the Lower Northern area and from Phayao. Another 30% are students from all over the country who take the National Entrance Examination to enter the University. Exchange students with a strong academic record from other universities, either inside or outside the country, are welcome. Graduate students can enroll in full-time or part-time programs. The University currently has approximately 25, 000 students, and 1,500 faculty and staff members.

In addition, the University offers opportunities for research and academic service in the following centres under the Office of the President: Solar Energy Research and Training Center (SERT), Quality Assurance Unit, Language Centre, Myanmar Studies Center, Gender Studies Center, and International College. From its humble beginnings as the province's first teachers college founded in 1936 with a few academic departments. Uttaradit Rajabht University now ranks among Thailandกฏs most comprehensive universities. Each year, some 10,000 students enroll in 40 academic programs seeking bachelor's and master's degrees. Recreation Program
We have a fitness center, intramural sports, aquatics, and instructional programs. These facilities and activities are available at no cost to current students.

Computer Labs
Information Technology Services make available to URU students. Computer labs are located in each faculty and in the library. Remote accesses are also available through telephone lines which allow student to access the system 24 hours. We also have a modern language lab where students can improve their language skill through multi-media

Health Center
Primary medical care is available on campus for URU students including pharmacy services. The center is staffed by a doctor and professionally trained faculty. It provides diagnostic and treatment services to faculty, staff and university students.

International Programs

• Bachelor of Arts in Business
This is a four years degree program that provides a unique opportunity for student to combine their study in two countries. A Thai student and student from other countries will finish his/her first and second year of study in Thailand and choose to study the third year aboard (in the U.S.A., China, Japan, Australia, etc.). He or she then can finish the degree back in Thailand.

• Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Studies
This is a unique 1+2+1 degree program where students have opportunity to study at two institutions, Uttaradit Rajabhat University and Yuxi Teachers College. They can either choose to earn dual degrees from both institutes or a degree from URU and a Certificate from YTC.

Chiang Mai Rajabhat University originally began as the Northern Country Agricultural Teacher-Training School in 1924. After 1948, it went through many changes including Chiang Mai Certificate Teacher-Training School, Chiang Mai Teacher-Training School , Chiang Mai Teachers' College, and finally Rajabhat Institute Chiang Mai. As a result of the Rajabhat University Act 2004, kindly signed by His Majesty the King Rama IX on June 10, 2004, and the announcement in the Gazette dated June 14, 2004, our school officially became Chiang Mai Rajabhat University. Our university serves many roles including educational management, academic research, academic services to the community, fostering of arts and culture, and professional development programs which respond to the rapid expansion of the economy, technology and society.

Chiang Mai Rajabhat University realizes the rapid and ever-changing development in societies and , therefore, we are continually developing new curricula and focusing on the university for positive community development.

History

Chiang Mai Rajabhat University is an old university with a long history, starting with the Northern County Agricultural Teacher - training School in 1924. After 1948, it was transformed into Chiang Mai Certificate Teachers - training School, Chiang Mai Teacher - training School and the Chiang Mai teachers' College.

On February 14, 1982, the year of King Rama IX's sixthieth birthday, he kindly named the 36 teacher's College "Rajabhat Institute" and on March 6, 1985 he kindly granted his royal crest as Rajabhat Institute's emblem. According to the Rajabhat Institute Act 1995, Rajabhat Institute Chiang Mai become the institution responsible for educational management and development of teachers under the mission "The Institution for Local Development"

Chiang Mai Rajabhat University realizes the rapid changes of the society, so we are continually developing new curricula in order to improve educational standards. Now we provide a Master' degree program, a project to extend educational opportunities and a project for educating the public.

Chiang Mai Rajabhat University composed of four campuses.
- Wieng Boa Campus, the main campus located on Chang Puek Road, north of Chiang Mai city center.
- Mae Sa Campus, Faculty of Management Science, located in Mae Rim District, 10 kilometers from Wieng Boa campus.
- Sa Luang Campus (2,320 acres), the Agricultural Center which is located in Mae Rim District, 27 kilometers from Wieng Boa Campus.
- Mae Hongson Campus, the campus for external services of educational service area.

Educational Managment

Faculty of Education
Educate graduates in education programs, provide Teaching Practicum Centre, Special Education Centre and Demonstration School for research and teaching profession resources. Presentation of local culture and academic services to communities are included in this faculty.

Faculty of Humanities and Social Science
Educate graduates to be of good moral character and instill excellent academic abilities by means of participatory learning processes, research and information technology. Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese language programs under the cooperation with international universities are offered, including student and teacher exchange programs.

Faculty of Science and Technology
Educate graduates in sciences and applied sciences, emphasizing effective use of technology and good moral character to continually assist in the development of local communities. The Science Centre is also a study center for communities.

Faculty of Management Science
Educate graduates in business management, economics, accounting, management science and public relations in order to facilitate necessary skills, knowledge, and professional ability in the business community.

Faculty of Agricultural Technology
Educate graduates in agriculture sciences. Participatory projects, participatory learning processes and research in agricultural areas are incorporated into the creation of practical application in local communities.

Graduate School
Chiang Mai Rajabhat University realizes the need for personal and professional development in many different areas in the community, therefore, the graduate programs were established in 1995 in order to develop the potential of educators, and people in many public and private sectors. This program results in community and national development.

Community Services

Information and Technology Centre
Various kinds of books, textbooks, manuals and magazines, both in Thai and foreign languages, are available at the centre. Inter-library services, computer training and computer network for teaching and learning are also provided to lecturers, students and the general public.

Arts and Cultural Centre
The duties of this centre include the maintenance, preservation, and encouragement of Lanna arts and culture. "Rajabhat Dimond" is a project that encourages and gives honor to those who show ability and expertise in Lanna arts and culture. Lanna and Tai language teaching, Lanna massage training, local dances and parades, and a display of Lanna musical instruments at "Ruan Anusarn", a Lanna style house is also available.

Science Centre
Educational facilities dealing with science studies are provided at the science centre. Academic training, research study and project work on sciences and applied sciences for students, lecturers and interested persons are also arranged by the centre.

Language Centre
Information services on foreign languages, English, French, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese, are continually offered along with the language training courses for interested persons. Self-study programs are provided as well.

Chinese Studies Centre
The duty of the Chinese Studies Centre is to support Chinese language studies, research studies , and strengthen the relationship between Chiang Mai Rajabhat University and universities in China. Information collection and exchange is continually performed to support the university's academic potential to be internationally accepted.

Teacher Development Studies Centre
The role of the centre is to directly assist in the development of the potential of educators and lecturers, including curriculum development. Application of pedagogical science, which is locally and nationally accepted, is also a responsibility.

Demonstration School
Educational management to educate excellent, knowledgeable, culturally understanding and healthy students is the primary purpose of the Faculty of Education. Community educational resources are used for educational management which results in a good quality of life and happy society for the kindergarten and primary level students.

Special Educational Centre
Ability restoration services for mentally and physically handicapped people are offered, including giving guidance on how to manage special students to have a good quality of life in society.

Tourism Industry Practicum Centre
It is a practicum centre for students of the Tourism Industry Program. Accommodation, food, banquet and conference facilities are available in an impressive and secure atmosphere.
